Pressure calibrators come in a wide variety of models and specifications from a small basic digital manometer to high end deadweight testers, but which one is right for you?
Deadweight testers are ideal for a laboratory with fixed external variables such as gravity, temperature or level and little risk of damage to finely calibrated weights. However, their transport weight and the number of variables they rely on to calculate accurate pressures mean they are less than ideal as field devices. Digital calibrators are better, but must be specified correctly. Look for a pressure calibrator that is compensated for changes in ambient temperature. Sensor accuracy should be specified in percentage of reading and the sensors should be isolated for use with either gas or fluids.
